First Quantum of Solace review online

I’m not a Bond fan. Never was. Never understood the appeal of, to me, totally unattractive Sean Connery as THE Bond. Now Pierce Brosnan I totally got. He was MY Bond. With Daniel Craig in the mix since Casino Royale I don’t know what happened to Bond. Let me just say I loved Casino Royale. It is my favorite Bond film. The gritty realism finally kicked out the over the top cheesiness that always bothered me in older Bond films. But who ever came up with the idea of using blonde Daniel Craig, especially all buffed up like a dinosaur with no brain (scene on beach in Casino Royale), should meet an agent with a license to kill. Could one make a presumably attractive man any less attractive?

But like I said, Casino Royale is my favorite Bond film and I am looking forward to Quantum of Solace, which picks up exactly where we left of in the last one. Thanks to the first review of the film from Variety it  unfortunately seems like changing the director and vital parts of the crew, most notably the DP and editors, was a bad choice for a film that basically extends its predecessor.

I can’t wait to see it for myself, but after reading that review I am definitely lowering my expectations. I had none when I went to see Casino Royale and ended up loving that film. Now it might be the other way around…

  1. I have a feeling this will be one of the best Bond moveis ever. The last one was great, but this one should be even better.
