The Bank Job

Good, multi-layered caper film starring Jason Statham and Saffron Burrows.

There is more to the film than just robbing a bank. Getting into the vault is only the first stage. That is when the film really kicks into gear. You should always know what exactly it is you are stealing and especially who you are stealing from. When high profile gangsters and Mafiosi come into play an easy, non-violent bank robbery can turn ugly faster than you can say “we’re in”. All of a sudden you have to deal with people shooting at you, friends getting kidnapped, tortured and killed and the upper levels of your government come into play. Could it get any more complicated? Yes, just bring a woman into play…

Very entertaining, well written and acted British film. The story is nothing new and you might not identify too much with the characters. But that doesn’t mean you won’t have almost two hours of fun watching this. Everything culminates in one big coup at the very end, bringing all parties involved together for the final showdown. Overall a nice roller coaster ride with a big chunk of charme. Nothing to write home about, but decent entertainment for a film night at home.
