According to Variety the Sci Fi channel has just greenlit Caprica, the new prequel series to the Sci Fi channel hit Battlestar Galactica.

Caprica will be taking place 50 years prior to the beginnings of Battlestar Galactica and center on family drama instead of the space opera nature of the original series. Two rival families are tackling the issues of the emerging artificial intelligence and its implications.
