Rourke not in Sin City 2?

With the sequel to Sin City being on track for an April 2009 shooting start (details here) news of the possibility of not having Rourke as Marv back is kind of devastating.

A few days ago MTV’s Splash Page had the opportunity to talk to Mickey Rourke at a party for Fox Seachlight where everything seemed to indicate he and Miller were ready for Sin City 2. At the press junket for his latest film The Wrestler, directed by Darren Aronofsky, Coming Soon got quite a different reaction from Rourke concerning his coming back as Marv.

“No, I’m not interested in that right now. That’s not a reality right now. It’s pissing in the wind,” Rourke admitted. “There’s different factions going different directions there. I don’t know. That’s three hours of make up and I’m claustrophobic, so I’m going to have to work something out.”

Given that the sequel is supposedly based on the story of “A Dame to Kill For” where Marv is even more of a background player than in the original Sin City film there is still hope they might be able to work things out. Having a Sin City film without Marv making at least a small cameo would be a huge bummer. After all Marv is THE guy in the Sin City universe.

  1. Mickey Rourke’s comeback story reminds me a lot of Robert Downey Jr. for some reason
