Miller talks 300 spinoff, Sin City sequel and more

Doing press for his latest film The Spirit, based on the Will Eisner comic series, Frank Miller talks to Superhero Hype! about the 300 spinoff and the Sin City sequel.

About a possible prequel to Zack Snyder’s 300 Miller had this to say:

“I’ve written a story that’s not a prequel,” he told us. “It’s definitely a further story in the Greco-Persian Wars, and it involves some of the same characters but I’m not sure exactly how far along it’ll get and again, until it’s on a marquee, I don’t believe in it.”

Last week I blogged about Mickey Rourke maybe not returning for a Sin City sequel, having problems with the extensive make-up process since Rourke is claustrophobic. To Rourke not returning for Sin City 2 Miller replied:

“He has a pretty big role. I hope Mickey plays it.”

Miller is planning to work again with Robert Rodriguez on the Sin City sequel. But the real news was that Miller is planning on “I’ll publish something” when asked whether there might be a Sin City or 300 comic or graphic novel out before the films.

A special treat for Miller fans was the mention of one of Miller’s other graphic novel series for a possible film adaptation.

“I think Martha Washington is begging to happen. It’s just a matter of finding the right venue, because Martha Washington isn’t a movie, it’s a series. It would have to be like 12 episodes to fit the whole story in. I would not let it be truncated.”

Martha Washington goes big screen? Really? That is one of the best news I have heard in a while. That series is among the best I have ever read and would transfer beautifully to the big screen especially if Miller is helming it himself.
