Thank You For The Music

I never considered myself big on music. I can’t read it, no longer play an instrument and always had trouble identifying the instruments when our teacher made us listen to classical tracks. But you don’t need any of that to appreciate music. Love music.

A few days ago the profound reality of how much music influences our lives hit me as I was walking home from grocery shopping. Listening to music on my ipod as usual the player started a new song. When its chorus played I couldn’t help but smile, bop my head from left to right and back and just feel good. Remarkably great even.

The melody, the singing voice, the lyrics. It was like someone had just wrapped me in a blanket after almost freezing to death. The angelic voice of the female singer engulfed me, the melody gave my pulse its rhythm.

I checked the display of my ipod for the songtitle. It was Centre of the Sun by Vixtrola. That’s when I remembered that that song always had that effect on me. I just hadn’t listened to it for ages.

Long story short, it never ceases to amaze me what little things can have the highest impact on our mood. Something as insignificant as a three to four minute song can totally turn your day around. Thank you, music. Thank you, Vixtrola. And a special thank you to Jamie Blake, lead singer of Vixtrola.
