The Visitor

One chance encounter with a total stranger can affect one’s life in ways no one ever thought possible.

That is the very basic premise of the film The Visitor, starring Richard Jenkins (of Six Feet Under fame) as Walter Vale, a widowed college professor so fed up with his life he pretends to be busy in order to not feel empty since the death of his wife. All that changes when Vale travels back to New York walking in on a young Muslim couple living in his apartment. After a rough start things start to blossom for everyone until the illegal immigrant situation of his new friend is discovered.

Amazing performances throughout the cast paired with the strong writing make for an unforgettable piece. The realistic setting and handling of the plot does the subject matter justice. An emotional rollercoaster that probably hits home with more people than expected.

Well written characters, brilliant acting and a complex plot make this a genuine and touching film. Utterly remarkable.
