‘Dollhouse’ Already Canceled?

Dollhouse wasn’t having the easiest time garnering viewers to its intricate universe and complicated storyline. The Friday timeslot is tricky and Fox is known to be disrespectful to its properties (to put it nicely).

But so far Joss Whedon’s new series, starring Eliza Dushku as lead active Echo, has been doing okay. After its initial episodic episodes the storyline is in full throttle now, unfolding ever so slightly before our eyes. The interest in the show seems to be peaking considering the buzz on the net. So it comes as quite a downer to read about the possible cancelation of the show already. Details below the cut.

TV Week wrote about the return of Prison Break, saying:

“Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse, meanwhile, will have its season finale on May 8.”

How is that even possible given Dollhouse is supposed to have 13 episodes in its first season (13 episodes are listed on the season one DVD) and can only air 12 by May 8?

Whedonesque writes:

“Fox describes Dollhouse episode 12 as the season finale. Whether episode 13 a.k.a. Epitaph One? It is, after all, listed as an episode on the DVD.”

Dollhouse hasn’t been the awesome ratings hit Fox was hoping for, but rearranging or pulling part of its season is so disrespectful. Especially considering this season might be the only one to ever see the light of day.

Do you think I’m overreacting and reading the signs wrong? Do you think Dollhouse will be renewed? Leave a comment.

  1. Fox paid for 13 episodes but ep 13 is a stand alone episode that is set after the “finale” ep 12. So it may or may not be aired in the US but it is part of the DVD.
